Albert Hill

At Flowers, Mountains, Etc., we collect and sell paintings, prints and objects.

By accident rather than design, images of flowers and mountains came to dominate our collection over the years - hence the name, Flowers, Mountains, Etc.

We try to keep an open mind about the art we collect. Although we tend towards the 20 th , we enjoy works from all centuries. And although we like things that can be hung on a wall, we consider works in all media. We don't discriminate by price. We buy and sell works with price tags from the hundreds to the hundreds of thousands (the latter, however, are usually dealt with through our art advisory arm, November Art Advisory).

Unlike some, we enjoy talking decorative schemes as much as art theory and market dynamics. Although avid gallery-goers (of course), we enjoy thinking about art in the more intimate context of the studio or home. We prefer a work lit through a window by the last embers of the evening sun, for instance, to a painting under the glare of a specialist spotlight.

We are based in Farnham, Surrey but come to London most weeks to meet clients and deliver works.

Flowers, Mountains, Etc. is led by Albert Hill. As a Co-Founder of The Modern House and Inigo, Albert has spent much of his working life involved with the sale of some of the country’s very best homes. His short journey from architecture to art, however, has been a natural one thanks to an academic background in Art History and an upbringing in a family of artists, collectors and critics. He has also spent some (rather tedious) time in an earlier life working for Christie’s and has been a writer writing about art, architecture, fashion and interiors for The Guardian, The World of Interiors, Phaidon and many more.
